Mornings and afternoons are busy times at Mt. Daniel. N. Oak Street is a narrow road, on a steep hill with many residential neighbors. Sharing the road and taking your time is the key to arrival and departure success. Pedestrians, buses, kiss & ride cars, employee cars, and neighborhood traffic are all sharing the same sidewalks and roadways. Everyone needs to be alert and aware. It is our communal responsibility to keep one another safe.

• Drive slowly and safely on N. Oak Street and through the parking lot.  

• Do not block any driveways and be respectful of our Oak Street neighbors. 

• Drivers approaching the school should stay to the right to enter the parking lot. Use the outside lane of the parking lot to approach the drop-off and pick-up area near the playground. The middle lane will be for buses only. 

Extended Day Care

Parents who are dropping their students at Mt. Daniel for Extended Day Care will park in the lot, and enter with their students through the Day Care entrance.

Plan to arrive promptly at 8:35 a.m., but not early.

• If parents arrive too early, the line of cars will block our teachers trying to get into the parking lot.

• Make sure your child is on the curb side of the car for ease of drop-off.

• Parents who are dropping off may not get out of the car because we need to keep the line moving.

• As each car pulls up, a staff member will open the door, greet the student, and direct the student to the entrance at Door #9.

• Buses will arrive beginning at 8:45 a.m. Students will be met by an adult and escorted into the building through the main entrance.

• Buses and cars will share the Oak Street approach to the school. Buses will use the marked bus drop off loops.

Dismissal begins at 3:40 p.m., except on Wednesdays, when it begins at 1:15 p.m.

• Kiss & Ride students and walkers will be dismissed from their classrooms to the gym.  

• Each student will be assigned a Kiss & Ride number and a designated spot in the gym. The Kiss & Ride number will be displayed on each student's backpack tag.  

• Kiss & Ride families will receive a car sign that has the same Kiss & Ride number a the student to display in the windshield.

• Make sure the Kiss & Ride number is visible to the staff person in the parking lot.

• The staff member will alert the staff in the gym when they see the number, to dismiss your child.

• All parents who are picking up their children must use the Kiss & Ride area, and remain in their cars, unless the child needs help strapping into booster or car seat.  

Dismissal begins at 3:40 p.m., except on Wednesdays, when it begins at 1:15 p.m.

• Students riding buses will begin dismissal at 3:45 p.m.

• Buses will depart when they are fully loaded.

• Parents must be at the bus stop to pick up their child.  

• Plan to be at the bus stop 5-10 minutes early, just in case the bus arrives early.  

• Children will be released from the bus to a parent or designated adult. Be sure to add names to the bus designee form of people who can receive your child in the event that you or your childcare provider are not present.  

• Students who are not met by a designated adult will remain on the bus and be returned to Mount Daniel.

• Multiple occurrences of a child being returned to Mount Daniel will result in the suspension of bus privileges.

Parents who are picking up their students at Mt. Daniel from Extended Day Care will park in the lot, and enter using their badge through the Day Care entrance.
