BOARD APPROVES CONCEPTUAL RFP

NOVEMBER 28, 2017

The Falls Church School Board advanced toward the next Milestone in the GMHS Campus Project with the approval of a Conceptual Request for Proposals (RFP).

This step in the PPEA process simply allows FCCPS to quickly see what firms are interested in working on the project. For those interested, three will be invited in February to submit Detailed Design proposals.

The Conceptual RFP includes everything from education specifications developed over the last several years, to sustainability features including geothermal, LEED Gold minimum and Net Zero Ready. While we await the qualifications of interested companies, briefings for staff and the public will be held.

The first of these will be a Campus Project Interactive Briefing on December 13th at 7:30 p.m. in the GMHS Mustang Cafe. The Briefing is designed to gather civic input as we continue to fine-tune the proposal that was developed ahead of the successful November 2017 Referendum.

In addition to an overview of the RFP, this meeting will include breakout sessions covering seven key areas:

  • Academic Program

  • 21st Century Design

  • Athletic Program

  • Arts Program

  • Community Use of Facilities

  • Green Schools/Sustainability, and

  • Transportation & Parking

We would appreciate those interested in attending to R.S.V.P. so that we may better plan for the break out sessions that evening.
