Returning Student Registration Overview

STUDENT REGISTRATION for 2022-23

  • If you have a current FCCPS student, you are considered RETURNING for the coming school year. 

  • New this year, FCCPS is using PowerSchool Parent Portal for registration. This means less typing! Each student’s current information will be transferred and parents will only have to verify and update. Additionally, all family information will be easy to find, in one place. It is crucial that you double check all information for your student(s) to ensure everything is accurate and up-to-date. 

  • For RETURNING students, the process should take anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on how much information has changed from last school year. 

  • While we are trying to get as many families registered by the end of June, we understand that for a few families who are experiencing technical issues, this might not happen … and that is ok. Some of the Issues are external to FCCPS and our vendor partner PowerSchool is working diligently to continue to address issues that arise.  

There are 2 important steps to complete the Returning Student Registration process: 

  1. Creating/Verifying you PowerSchool Parent Portal Account

  2. Registration

1) Creating a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account

*Creating the PowerSchool Parent Portal account is the first step in preparing to register your child(ren) for the 2022-2023 School Year. Only After this account is created, parents will be able to register their student(s).

  • At least ONE parent/guardian for each family will need a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account to complete the Registration process You can register more than one parent for a Parent Portal Account, but only ONE will be able to complete the registration process. 

If you have an account and you can log into it … Please skip to step 2. 

PowerSchool Parent Portal Account Creation Steps

You have received an email from RegistrationSupport@fccps.org with the ACCESS CODE and ACCESS PASSWORD to complete your Parent Portal Account creation. If you have not received this, please check your spam or junk folder - sometimes emails from the PowerSchool system end up there. If you still need assistance, please reach out to RegistrationSupport@fccps.org and they will be able to help you. 

Parent Portal Account Creation Steps:

  1. Look for a Verification Email sent by RegistrationSupport@fccps.org (if multiple children, look for multiple emails). You will use the ACCESS ID and ACCESS PASSWORD to Create your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.

  2. Find the Create Account tab at https://fccps.powerschool.com/public

  3. Click on “create account.”

  1. Add all required fields. Please use your email address for Username. If you have multiple students, you can enter them here. (Middle Screenshot)

Adding additional students

In some cases, parents might have an account but may not have all of their students linked. In this case, you can add students to your account with the Access ID and Password.

  1. Log into your Parent Portal - https://fccps.powerschool.com/public

  2. Navigate to the Account Preferences on the left side menu

  3. Select the Students tab and find the Add button

  4. Enter the required information (Access ID & Password already shared via an email)

2) Registration 

Now that the Parent Portal is set up, you can register!

Please follow the directions below to register your child(ren) for the upcoming school year.

  1. Log into your Parent Portal - https://fccps.powerschool.com/public

  2. Navigate to the Icon for  Registration (2022-2023) on the left side menu. 

  3. Use your child’s Date of Birth for authentication.

  4. Complete all required fields and pages.

  5. Make sure you submit on the “Summary Page.” Note: if you have “errors”, you will be asked to fix them on this step. 

If you have multiple child, you will need to exit out of the registration window. Then follow these steps:

  1. Return to PowerSchool Parent Portal

  2. Select another child from the account menu (blue menu at the top right)

  • If you do not see your other child, you must add your students to the parent portal. See above.

  1. Navigate to the Registration (2022-2023) on the left side menu.

  2. Use your child’s Date of Birth for authentication.

  3. Complete all required fields and pages.

  4. Make sure you submit on the “Summary Page.” Note: if you have “errors”, you will be asked to fix them on this step. 

And you are Registered!!!

Make sure to submit all documents in a timely manner.
