National Park Ranger Peter Maugle, from Fredericksburg National Battlefield visited the Fourth Grade on Monday, April 15.
Dressed in full Civil war uniform, he talked about his gear, what life was like as a soldier and the battles that took place near Fredericksburg. Four major battles took place in the area with over 100,000 casualities as the soldier met often in this midpoint between the Northern capital in Washington and the Southern capital in Richmond.
Ranger Peter brought the experiences of the times to life today for the Fourth Graders who are studying the Civil War as they continue through the Virginia Studies curriculum.
