At its regular meeting last night, the Falls Church City School Board approved language to clarify its current elementary and middle school day care policies.  The new language in the elementary day care policy clarifies the current enrollment requirements to allow elementary school children (grades K-4) who reside in the City of Falls Church or who are enrolled in a public or private school in the City of Falls Church to attend, provided that their parents/guardians are working, studying, training or disabled.  The new language also includes a provision to allow the Extended Day Care Advisory Board to consider allowing enrollment, on an individual basis, to non-city residents whose children attend school outside the city.  The new language is consistent with General Assembly requirements that date back to 1981.

The new language in the middle school policy clarifies the eligibility requirements by making the program available to children in grades 5-7 who reside in the City of Falls Church or who are enrolled in a public or private school in the City of Falls Church.

Both policies (5.36 and 5.37) can be viewed under the school board section on the school division Web site:  www.fccps.org/board
