FCCPS teachers receiving their National Board Certifications are (l to r) Lisa Allan, Heidi Lang, and Juls Rathje.
Three teachers in the Falls Church City Public Schools are now among the nationally recognized elite instructors to have earned certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The teachers join more than a dozen others in the FCCPS who have attained this achievement since the school division initiated its program to promote National Board Certification back in 2005.
Dr. Jones congratulated each candidate today, and added that “FCCPS is honored to have this caliber of teacher among our ranks, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate and congratulate each one of them on their success.”
The successful candidates from the FCCPS this year are:
| Lisa Allan |
|
4th Grade - Thomas Jefferson Elementary |
| Heidi Lang |
|
Gifted & Talented - Thomas Jefferson Elementary |
| Juls Rathje |
|
Art - Thomas Jefferson Elementary |
National Board Certification is the highest symbol of professional teaching excellence. To receive the distinction, candidates must fulfill the requirements of a rigorous, two-year process that demonstrates a teacher’s ability to meet high standards in his or her field.
The teachers will be recognized at an upcoming school board meeting. |
