Hyland Takes Oath of Office

One new leader is joining the Falls Church City School Board. Charlotte Hyland took the oath of office Tuesday morning, June 24th, to begin her first term following her election to the board in the spring.

Current board members Joan Wodiska and Kieran Sharpe, who were re-elected to serve for another four years, will be sworn in Friday. Their new terms officially begin July 1.

Hyland is a freelance writer who holds a bachelors degree from the University of Colorado. For nearly 10 years she served as editor of the FCCPS elementary PTA newsletter, The Advocate, and later for the PTSA’s newsletter, The Maverick. Hyland also has served on the elementary PTA board as vice president, recording secretary and chaired various PTA and PTSA committees.

Next week, the School Board will meet on July 1st for its annual organizational meeting where the School Board chairman and vice-chairman are elected and the yearly schedule set. Other school board business will be conducted as well.
