When Asheesh Misra reports to work as George Mason High School’s new IB coordinator, he’ll already have a thorough sense of the school’s program. That’s because Misra currently serves in a similar capacity just a mile or so down the road at George C. Marshall High School in Fairfax County.
“We’re thrilled that Mr. Misra will be joining our team at George Mason,” Superintendent Lois Berlin said. “His track record at Marshall High School is most impressive, and his wealth of experience will greatly enrich the IB program at George Mason High School.”
Misra’s career in international education began in 2000 at the International School of Curitiba, where he served as an IB history teacher until 2003. That fall, he moved to Northern Virginia to begin his tenure as an IB history and government teacher at Marshall High School. In 2006, he became the school’s social studies department co-chair and last year he was named the co-coordinator of the school’s IB diploma program.
Misra holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and a masters degree in secondary education from Indiana University in Bloomington. His appointment as George Mason High School IB Coordinator will begin in July.
