An administrator from Alexandria will soon become the new assistant principal at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School. Gail Lovette was officially appointed to the post during last night’s Falls Church City School Board meeting.
“Ms. Lovette has extensive classroom and administrative experience and comes highly recommended,” Superintendent Lois Berlin said. “Because of her work with inner city schools and an elementary inclusion program, she understands the importance of differentiating instruction and tracking data to meet the needs of all students, which makes her a great fit for the Falls Church City Public Schools.”
Lovette was hired to replace Vincent Baxter, who was recently named the next principal of nearby Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Lovett’s middle school term begins July 1st.
Lovette is currently employed by the Alexandria City Public Schools as the Intersession Coordinator at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School. She has also served as a classroom teacher for grades K-6. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from SUNY College in N.Y., and she holds a master’s degree in educational administration from The George Washington University.
