Day Care Enrollment Deadline Extended

In an effort to ensure all eligible families are aware of the option to enroll their children in the Falls Church City Public Schools Day Care Program, the school system is extending the fall registration deadline to Wednesday, August 29. All registration forms must be received in the day care office trailer by 5:00 p.m. on that day. The office is located next to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, 601 South Oak Street, Falls Church.
Elementary Day Care – The elementary day care program is open to elementary school children (grades K-4) who reside in the City of Falls Church or who are enrolled in a public or private school in the City of Falls Church, provided that their parents/guardians are working, studying, training or disabled. The elementary program offers day care services before school and after school. Enrollment options include full time, part time, one day per week or on a drop-in basis (with a 24-hour notice).
Middle School ASAP – The middle school After School Activities Program (ASAP) is open to middle school children (grades 5-7) who reside in the City of Falls Church or who are enrolled in a public or private school in the City of Falls Church. Enrollment options include full time, part time, one day per week or on a drop-in basis (with a 24-hour notice).

At its next regular meeting, the Falls Church City School Board will vote on an additional provision to allow the Extended Day Care Advisory Board to consider allowing enrollment, on an individual basis, to non-city residents whose children attend school outside the city. The language change would be consistent with General Assembly requirements that date back to 1981. The next school board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chambers at City Hall.
