EXPECTATIONS:
The primary expectation that I have for any of my students is that they set high standards      for themselves and commit to working hard toward meeting these expectations.  I believe learning cannot occur without excellent teacher      procedures and rules.

1. Respect others, yourself and the school.
2. Be on time and prepared for class.
3. Follow the teacher’s directions at ALL times.
4. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.
5. Observe ALL rules in the School’s handbook.

CONSEQUENCES:
1. Warning
2.  Teacher conference with student
3. Time out / Call home
4. Referral to the Administration

REWARDS:
1. Gotcha Gold Cards –I will give a Gotcha card to students who demonstrate outstanding effort during the period, for following directions for the first time and other positive actions.  The cards will be given on a weekly basis.  Students will complete the card immediately and turn it in to me.  At the end of each month, a raffle will occur for prizes from the Gotcha bag for each class.

GRADES:
A = (Excellent) = 89.5%-100%
B = (Very Good)=79.5%-89.49%
C= (Average)    =69.5%-79.49%
D= (Below Average) = 59.5% – 69.49%
F= (Failing)= Below 59.5%< /STRONG>

Components of the Grade:
Tests/Quizzes = 45%
The tests and quizzes will be based on points and added together.  For example, a student may receive 78 / 80 on a test and a 20 / 20 on a quiz.  What is their test/quiz average?  Yes, it would be 98%.

Projects/Papers=25%
Information will be given in late September or early October about projects.

Homework/Classwork  = 20%
Homework is important because it is a valuable tool in helping students make the most of their experiences in school.  Homework helps reinforce what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility and helps students develop discipline and positive study habits.

Homework assignments will be graded on a 10 point system and the points will be added at the end of the marking period to determine the students’ homework grade. Homework is expected to be on the students’ desk in the right-hand corner at the beginning of each class.

Some classwork assignments will also be graded based on the same criteria as homework.  In addition, students will sometimes have exit questions they will answer the last few minutes of class as an informal assessment to see if they understood the day’s lesson.  It will be graded on completion and effort and will count for 5 points.

10/10 = (A) = Homework/Classwork is neat and complete.
8 / 10 = (B) = Homework/Classwork is 4/5 or more completed, or it lacks effort in part of the assignment.
Assignments will not be accepted if less than 4/5 are completed.

Organization = 10%
Organization is an important skill to have for school and in life.  Middle school is an excellent opportunity to get organized.  Students will be graded on the following two components:

1. Notebooks – I will assign to collect notebooks two times during each marking period and grade them according to the homework standards (neat, complete and accurate).

2.  At the end of each unit, students will have to compile all their assignments and staple it to a cover sheet.  The packet must be signed by the parent and returned to class two days later.
