Child Find is a program mandated by the Commonwealth of Virginia which serves children from birth to age 21 and their families.   School districts are directed to screen, identify and evaluate those students who might need special education services to support their learning. 

A developmental screening can be provided free of charge if parents have concerns about a child's development in speech and language, fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, social-emotional or self-help skills.

The screening is used to determine if further intervention or assessment for special education may be appropriate.  If the results of a screening suggest that services are needed, a referral to special education and a request for parental permission for evaluation is made.

Child Find days are held at Mt. Daniel and are scheduled by appointment, typically for the first Wednesday of the month from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM throughout the school year.  Parents who have concerns about the development of their child or would like more information about Child Find can contact the Mt.
