Spring has sprung and that means one thing. No not flowers, butterflies and sunshine. The Spring Show is coming to George Mason High School. Students, family, and friends will be able to see some of the most talented students from George Mason perform their acts on stage.

The show takes place Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11 this week. Students performing will try their hardest to impress the audience with their talent.

Some of the talents are junior John Glover, junior Tyler Waters and his brother, alumni Sam Waters, playing “Piano Man” by Billy Joel.

Senior Jack Webster will be performing a new magic routine that will be sure to grab your attention.

The finale will be performed by seniors Matt Gemond, Sarah Rodock, and Andre Hopson, along with band mates Tonito Walls and John Toth from Bishop O’Connell to perform their song “Medley.”

WagenerAppreciationDay 5-4-12 DBedited

Do you have a favorite teacher at Mason? This week is your chance to let them know you love them! Why? Because it’s teacher appreciation week, so go get them a Starbucks, Panera card, a Chipotle gift card, or even just a regular “thank you” card is nice!

Show your teachers you appreciate them this week and you’ll be sure to get a nice smile, a thank you (and if you’re lucky, you might be able to get your class out of a quiz or test!).

On behalf of Lasso Online, we appreciate all of you teachers!

Tandem bikes trending

There is something new trending around Falls Church. Here is a hint: it has to do with biking.

Give up yet? Well if you haven’t clued in from the title or the hint, the new thing trending in Falls Church is tandem biking.

There has been a huge increase in the amount of tandem bikes in the last few weeks.  They’re all over the bike path now and it’s not just a youth trend either. Both young and old have been riding these tandem bikes around Falls Church and it’s kind of cool.

With the whole movement on our campus to ride bikes to school instead of driving cars, tandem biking is a great alternative. It’s fun, social, and you get two people powering a bike so it’s probably a lot easier and faster than riding a single person bike.

If you haven’t seen this latest trend, just keep your eyes open and looking towards the bike path because one of these tandem bikes are bound to cross your path sooner rather than later.

They were also given the opportunity to visit other exhibits.  For lunch they walked to Mr. Cheng’s Chinese Cuisine and ordered their lunches in Mandarin. “It was a fun opportunity to learn about the Chinese culture and spend time with friends,” said sophomore Charlotte Sudweek.
