This past Friday, the SCA organized the annual Winter Wishes after-school field trip to Target. The fieldtrip provides Holiday gifts for children living in underprivileged families. Thankfully, the Salvation Army sponsors the program every year just in time for the holidays.
First TAs had to decide how many children they would sponsor (for every child sponsored, $40 was raised). Each TA fundraised the money during the few weeks leading up to the Target field trip. Then at 4PM on Friday, Mr. Pepper, Mr. Sokolowski, Ms. Jayson, Ms. Tooze, and about 40 students set out to buy the presents.
When the students arrived at Target, they were on a mission to buy three items for the child that they were sponsoring. First, they had to find an article of clothing. Then, they had to find a toy for the child. Lastly, they had to find a gift bag to hold the gifts. The fieldtrip ran smoothly and took less time than previous years. Science teacher Mr. Sokolowski gladly stated "It went great; I was very impressed by the ability of the students to get so much for under $40!" while English Teacher Ms.Tooze added "It was a huge a success, and it was very well organized.
