The newly formed Entrepreneur's Club has gotten the George Mason students excited with the popular pizza sales after school on Fridays. So what is the point of these pizza sales? Where does the money go? President Abdul Mukati says the club's purpose is to mold young entrepreneurs by learning hands on by actually making the money.
Mukati added that, "When the club started, this was the only purpose. The thought of what to do with the money was secondary to actually making the money."
The club was sponsored from the beginning by Chris Pikrallidas, who specializes in teaching government, business and economics.
Once the club started making money through the pizza sales, the question arose of what to do with the money. At one of the club meetings, the members agreed to donate a large portion of the money to the Mali School Project, in accordance with the George Mason Relief Project.
Now with a purpose in mind of what the money is for, there is a little more meaning to the ever so popular pizza sales. In addition to donating money to this popular school project, the Entrepreneur's Club has also been funding the start up of the Trading Post. The club members valued this idea since it was helping another business on rise that they could work with.
"The pizza sales are not our only goal. We have discussed trying to expand our marketing to other types of sales," said club vice president Jordan Cheney. So, the club is headed in a new direction and more is yet to come.
If students want to learn more about the club, they are encouraged to attend club meetings, which are held in Pikrallidas's trailer the first Tuesday of every month.
