To be or not to be a character from a Shakespearean play? The annual Shakespeare Monologue Contest has arrived. This recital is sponsored by the English-Speaking Union of the United States. The requirements of this competition are to memorize a monologue from one of William Shakespeare’s plays that is less than 20 lines long, talk to Ms. Mears in the English department about your selection and sign up, and make sure to get missed homework for block 5 on February 25.
Costumes, accents, and props are prohibited. There are no fees to enter, and the winner will move on to the National Capital Region competition on March 9 at the Shakespeare Theater Company’s Lansburgh Theater in D.C.
