Cross Country team welcomes autumn with Oktoberfest 5k

Sly-Oktoberfest

The Mason Cross Country team participated in the Octoberfest Invitational on Saturday. The girls' varsity team placed ninth out of 22 teams. Senior Michele de Mars and Junior Julia Estrada led the girls placing 23rd and 24th in 19:40 and 19:50. Eva Estrada ran an excellent race in 20:41. Rounding out varsity in a tight pack were Lauren Meinhart, Alicia Devereaux and Hannah Beaman.

 On the boys side, the varsity team placed 10th out of 29 teams. Juinors Jeremy K Brown and Jesse Schaffer led the guys finishing 17:14 and 17:15. Keeping the team score low by packing together were Paul Sanders, Jackson Jost, Austin Gogal, Jeremy M Brown and Paul Henninger.

In the JV races, the underclassmen ladies placed second overall led by medal winners Blaise Sevier (second) and Clara Frost (18th). In the upperclassmen JV race, Quinn Sheehy medaled in eighth place. For the boys, the upperclassmen placed fifth overall led by medal winners Nathan Frost (ninth) and Ryan Ogden (12th).

The team's next invitational will be October 8 at Gettysburg High School in Pennsylvania.
