Amidst crying classmates and reminiscing parents, the George Mason Class of 2011 walked across the stage at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. last night, June 15.

Former Secretary of the US Army (and father of senior Annie Geren) Pete Geren was the honorary commencement speaker, alongside seniors and valedictory scholars Anne Briggs, Daniel Drawbaugh, and Matt Baker.

Dr. Lois Berlin, who will be retiring as FCCPS superintendent at the end of the school year, received an honorary Advanced Diploma presented by Principal Ty Byrd at the end of the Class of 2011's procession.

Senior class treasurer Brandon Alexander presented Mason with three new microwaves for the Mustang Cafe, along with money to start a fund for an electronic marquee, all a gift from the graduating class.

After the commencement ceremony, the graduates spent the night at Skyline Health and Fitness for the annual All Night Graduation Celebration, where raffle tickets were given out and prizes were won. By 5:00 a.m., the graduates arrived back at school; some ventured out for early morning pancakes at IHOP, while others stayed in the senior parking lot to continue the celebrations.

Congratulations to the Class of 2011!
