Recognize that person with a nomination to one of the two major FCCPS staff recognition awards - the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award and the Support Employee of the Year Award.

Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award

The annual award is presented by the Washington Post Company Educational Foundation to one teacher in each Northern Virginia school system that instills in students a desire to learn and achieve, understands the individual needs of students and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of subject matter and the ability to share it effectively.

The winner will be recognized at a reception and will receive a $3000 cash award from the Post. The program’s goals are to recognize excellence in teaching, encourage creative and quality instruction, and contribute to improving education in the Washington metropolitan area. Anyone can nominate a Falls Church City public school teacher for the honor. Additional information criteria and nomination forms are available here.

Support Staff Employee of the Year Award

This award has been established by the Falls Church School Board to recognize a support staff employee whose contributions to the Falls Church City Public Schools exemplify the highest attributes of service. The nominee can be a full or part-time employee and must have at least five years of service with Falls Church Schools.

Support staff are employees who assist teachers and the administration in providing services to the instructional program and facilities, and can include transportation, food service, day care, maintenance/custodial workers, paraprofessionals and secretarial/office staff.  Previous winners are not eligible to receive this award.

DEADLINE: Entries deadline extended to January 25, 2013.
