Hundreds of Falls Church City public school employees celebrated a new year together during the annual staff convocation, recognition program, and this year for the first time, a cookout at Moore Cadillac Field on Monday. The annual first-day gathering give new and veteran staff members a chance to meet and reconnect after summer vacation and to rededicate themselves to their calling. Due to budget constrants, this year's convocation and cookout was funded entirely by the generous contributions and support of Falls Church area businesses and school-affiliated organizations. The sponsors were Apple Federal Credit Union, BJ's, Elementary PTA, FCCPS Band Boosters, GMHS Athletic Boosters, GMHS PTSA, John Kwacala of Capital Asset Management Group (ING 403b), MEHMS PTA, Sysco Food Services, VALIC. Prior to the luncheon, school superintendent Lois Berlin, school board vice-chairman Pat Riccards and Falls Church Major Nader Baroukh offered greetings and veteran teachers and administrative staff members were recognized for their years of service. Introductions of new staff members were also made. FCCPS Service Awards
