I went to bed on November 2nd, 2004, with the radio next to my bed tuned to NPR. As I fell asleep, I heard that Bush had won Florida, and, when I woke up, I shoved my face into my pillow and moaned in remorse.
I wore a black shirt to school that day, a dramatic change from my routine white shirt and beige cargo. Like so many other crestfallen democrats, I walked through the halls with a somber look on my face, but still hopeful.
I am proud to say that I did not argue with a certain republican who felt compelled to gloat, although I’m sorry to say that not all democrats accepted the outcome with such grace.
What I can’t understand is HOW CAN ANYONE WITH THE CAPACITY OF LOGICAL THOUGHT HAVE VOTED FOR BUSH?!?!?!?!?! Alas, that will no doubt remain one of the unanswered questions of life, and I will quote Einstein—"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe."
There is, however, one thing I’d like to know before 2008. Why did the Democratic party nominate John Kerry when they had Howard Dean? I sincerely believe that Howard Dean would have won the election. Let’s just hope that he runs in 2008 and the Democratic party nominates him.
One of the things that ticks me off more than anything is the fact that the Bush administration has twisted "liberal" into a bad word. Kerry should have said that he was proud to be a liberal, as I’m sure Dean would have.
Well, that’s it. We can only hope that American voters don’t get any dumber than they already are.I
