Standard of Learning (SOL) Accreditation Results

All four FCCPS schools are fully accredited for the 2007-08 school year, based on results in 2006-07.  Mt. Daniel’s accreditation is based on Thomas Jefferson’s performance.  Students in grades 4, 6 and 7 were tested for the second year in reading and mathematics.  The following table provides passing percentages for schools over recent assessment cycles.  Data for 2006-07 are final.

Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)

The Cognitive Abilities Test is administered in the Fall, to students in grades 1 and 3.  In 2006, the upgraded CogAT form 6 was given to grade 1 and grade 3 students.  The CogAT provides an established measure of a child’s verbal, quantitative and nonverbal development.  The following table shows the percentile ranking of the mean scores for grades 1 and 3, from Fall 2003 to 2007.

Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test (SDRT)

The Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test is a locally administered assessment, given in the Fall to students in grade 7.  The SDRT provides an established measure of a child’s vocabulary, comprehension and scanning level relative to national norms.  The test is timed.  The table below shows the percentile ranking of the mean scores for grade 7.

Stanford 10 Achievement Results

Prior to the 2004-05 school year, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) used the Stanford 9 Achievement test to provide norm-referenced data in support of the SOL assessments.  Although the VDOE has desisted in this practice, Falls Church has continued the Fall testing of grades 4, 6 and 9 students.  The upgraded Stanford 10 was adopted in Fall 2004.  This version is untimed.  Results are shown in the table below. Grade 9 students were not tested in Fall 2007.
