Citizens' Advisory Committees

The School Board will appoint citizens' advisory committees mandated by Virginia law and regulations of the State Board of Education or whenever the local Board determines such groups may be needed in providing direction for the school division.

The committees are established to study in more detail issues of importance to the School Board.

Administrative Employee Advisory Committee (AEAC)

Purpose: This committee shall serve as an advisory committee to the Superintendent and School Board on personnel policies, salaries, calendar, benefits, and related items which affect administrators.

Business in Education Partnership Council (BIE)

Purpose: To promote the active participation of business personnel in support of school activities and to assist school staff in review of instructional programs to insure relevant instruction, to assist and advise in the development and approval of the Annual Career and Technical Education Plan (CTE).

Family Life Education Advisory Committee

Volunteer Application Apply for Membership

Purpose: To provide advice to the Superintendent and School Board on issues related to the Family Life Education Programs. In addition, responsibilities include making recommendations, additions deletions or changes in the grade level objectives; approving new opt-out units; making recommendations of audio-visual materials for use in the program dealing with the topics of human reproduction and contraception, child sexual abuse, adolescent sexual development, sexually transmitted diseases, rape, adolescent pregnancy and sexual orientation.

  • To review annually the adopted Plan for Instruction for Gifted and Talented Students, and review the extent to which the plan for the previous year was implemented, and make recommendations for amendment to the plan.

Special Education Advisory Committee

Volunteer Application Apply for Membership

Purpose: To advise the School Board of needs in the education of students with disabilities; to assist in the formulation and development of long-range plans which will provide services needed for students with disabilities in the Falls Church community; to participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of students with disabilities; submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education of students with disabilities through the Superintendent to the School Board; assist the School Board on interpreting to the community the plans for meeting the needs of students with disabilities for educational services; review annually the Falls Church special education plan and the application for federal funding thirty (30) calendar days prior to the submission to the School Board.
