FCCPS SealAbout Falls Church City Public Schools

The Falls Church City Public Schools has a longstanding reputation for excellence. The system was founded in 1949, just one year after the Town of Falls Church became a chartered city. Community leaders at that time were unhappy with the level of support the town had been getting from the county school system, so they sought the enabling state legislation to allow them to form the City of Falls Church with the right to its own school system.

Today, the Falls Church City Public Schools serves more than 1900 students including some tuition students who live in communities outside of our 2-square-mile city located just 7 miles from Washington, D.C. Our students consistently score well above state and national averages on standardized tests. Our parent and business communities are actively involved in our schools, and the entire community is committed to maintaining the high educational standards that make the Falls Church City Public Schools the crown jewel of our city.

Mission Statement

The Falls Church City Public Schools, in partnership with our families and community, educates and challenges every student to succeed and become a responsible and contributing member of the global community.
